Mango review

Mango is yet another entry in the infamous pseudo-genre of "arty" walking simulators, based around exploring a broadly linear sequence of bizarre and varied environments with some light puzzling thrown in for good measure, all in the service of a rather opaque plot dealing with themes of mental illness and familial drama. Overall, nothing too unusual, but it's the execution that counts and Mango absolutely nails it in that regards. The biggest reason may be that it has absolutely no sense of restraint. It turns the psychedelic weirdness up to eleven and keeps it there for pretty much the entire runtime and, while longer than most games of its type at a good five hours, is still short enough for its approach to not wear thin. The end result is a real rollercoaster of a Walking Sim that I'd say is almost a must-play for anyone interested in the genre.
