Vektor 2089 review

Top-Down Antigrav-racing vaguely reminiscient of F-Zero with controls that take some getting used to: standard four-directional input, but interpreted in absolute terms, or I guess relative to the camera instead of the direction you're heading in. So pressing any one of the direction keys causes your vehicle to steer in that direction, whereas in most racing games, the up and down keys are used for accelerating and breaking, while the left and right keys turn the vehicle. It's a bit odd initially, but before long you'll breeze around the tracks with the best of 'em. It's a pretty fun time, with a decent enough degree of polish, just severely malnourished. The races are simplistic, the tracks repetitive and the ai unengaging. A look at the storepage completes the picture: early access, though supposedly "feature complete". And of course, no major updates since 2020, no surprises there.

Don't pay $5 for this.
